You will see very shortly that the v8.0 genome build/annotation is going to be "retired" on Xenbase, and although still available, it is HIGHLY recommend that you do not use this anymore and move instead to the newer, vastly superior v9.0., which has better/more accurately annotated gene models for 100's of genes.

Science- what can I say- I step forward, 2 steps backwards, giant leap forward......it's just the way of it all goes....

That's true. A little positive change may bring great convenience. That's the glamour of advancement.
